Pages isn't 'Word for Mac' - Pages is a different word processor - Zotero has a plugin for Open Office and Word - both including the Mac versions - that make a lot of things easier and in many cases possible - among other things, automatic creation of bibliographies doesn't work without the plugin, and, as you note, it's clumsier overall.

I'm sure Zotero would look great with a dark theme and it would be even nicer to the eye when working in the evening. Would also better integrate to the UI experience when other programs and the OS is in dark mode.
Thanks,
best,
Fabian

- Just tossing in my two cents: this would be great.
- A dark mode for Windows 10 would be great too! I think Zotero is the only program I use on a regular basis that doesn't offer a dark mode.
- Having the possibility to go Dark with be great. I understand there are other priorities in the dev team, however...
- Agree. Although it was previously discussed before the release of macOS Mojave, nothing is going to work perfectly for changing the theme. By the way, it would be very great to have that.

- We understand the demand here and will likely offer a dark theme and support Dark Mode on macOS, but realistically it probably won't happen this year.
@AveryA: It looks like someone responded to you in another thread. You can follow up there if you have other questions about modifying the theme yourself. - It seems that the method mentioned above (in another thread) is useful for the Windows. Is that the case? Please let me know.
- It will work equally well for Mac, Windows, or Linux
- Dark mode works on Linux running the Gnome 3 desktop (eg Debian 'Buster'). Dark comes from the system settings. Zotero looks OK.
- Using this method for Mac, it does not work. I found someone had the same problem and posted this picture. https://imgur.com/a/ppngS74
- Thanks for the update, @dstillman. Another vote for this feature :).
- Me too! Dark mode is the best, I just find it much easier to read white text on a black background.

- There's a dev response higher up in the thread. No need for +1s, they just make the forum harder to read.
- Closing this thread for now. There are technical limitations that prevent us from supporting Dark Mode now, but we're well aware of the demand and will work to support it as soon as possible. We'll post here and on Twitter when Dark Mode support is available. You can subscribe to this thread for updates.

Citation managers make plug-ins for Word Processors, not the other way round. So you should be asking Zotero for this, not Apple. Or failing that, Citation Managers like Bookends do work with Pages. Or failing that, get a more flexible Word Processor (I do enjoy the idea that iWork is currently the best of anything, it's an original thought at least). You'll find that Word or even Mac specific apps like Nisus Writer and Mellel integrate very well. I even drafted a PhD in Scrivener with Bookends.
